After returning from therapy, Joanna returns home to a dark house; she is framed by the threshold to the dining room of the home. The darkness of her otherwise bright, white home foreshadows her imminent replacement by Robot Joanna and symbolizes her deep unhappiness and uneasiness in Stepford/suburbia.
